Edna Nees was born in Fluvanna County Virginia, about fifteen miles from Texas Jack’s birthplace. She has been secretary of the Association since 1988 and has also served as Vice President. She currently lives in Scottsville, VA.
Edna’s quiet demeanor and unassuming attitude disguise a multi-talented individual. For the past 24 years, she has been a Shock Trauma Technician for the Volunteer Rescue Squad. During that time she also served in various positions with the squad: president, vice-president, secretary and supply officer. Edna also serves as an Instructor for several different squad courses.
In addition, Edna has served many years with the Red Cross as an instructor. She has driven a school bus for twenty five years, teaches commercial driving and performs road tests for the Division of Motor Vehicles.
Edna is also a genealogist and serves somewhat as the TJA historian. She has published three books: John Burwell Omohundro’s Descendants, Families In The Circle, and William Stone Descendants. By her own admission she has "..... spent many hours on the phone and answering letters explaining how someone was related to Texas Jack."
Oh! Edna also manages to find time to look after her farm.
One takes a liking to Edna almost immediately. She says: " I’m a busy person but can always find time to help someone." That’s Edna!
