Historical Weapons of Texas Jack

Many of the guns and knives once owned by Texas Jack Omohundro have been lost or as yet undiscovered. Some however, have found their way into the hands of private collectors, shown on this page. Click on the thumbnail image to display a larger image.

Revolver - Smith & Wesson nickel-plated six shooter. Engraved and stocked in ivory. Inscribed: "Earl Dunraven from Texas Jack." Texas Jack presented this gun to his friend, the Earl of Dunraven, after guiding the Scottish nobleman on a Buffalo hunt.

Revolver - 1860 Army Colt 44 Cal. Serial #186506. This gun was used by Texas Jack in his Wild West Shows, and is pitted inside the barrel, a condition due to its having fired blanks.

Revolver - Model no. 3 Smith & Wesson 1869 nickel plated six-shooter, American single action .44 center-fire cartridge type. Serial No. 2008. Barrel stamped: "U.S.", indicating it was purchased from the U.S. Government. Records show it was one of a shipment issued to troops and scouts at Fort McPherson, Cottonwood Springs, Nebraska in 1871. This gun belonged to Texas Jack when he was a U.S. Government scout stationed at Fort McPherson.

Sharps Gun used by Texas Jack. The Sharps was a 50 caliber single shot rifle used for hunting buffalo. The slug was about the size of a man's thumb!

Bowie (hunting) knife. Non-XLL 9-1/2" clip point blade. Made by Joseph Allen & Sons, Sheffield, England. Ivory handle. Engraved on one side of the handle: " Texas Jack" Engraved on the other side: " W.F.C." This knife was given to Jack by William F. (Buffalo Bill) Cody
