Texas Jack toured extensively from the premiere of The Scouts of the Prairie in December of 1872 until his final performances in Leadville, Colorado, in the spring of 1880. He stood on stage alongside such notables as his "pard of the plains" Buffalo Bill Cody, their mutual friend Wild Bill Hickok, his beautiful costar and wife the Peerless Giuseppina Morlacchi, and Donald McKay, Warm Springs scout and hero of the Modoc War. When one considers the frequent matinees, Texas Jack was a part of well over a thousand theatrical performances over the course of just over seven years, popularizing his former profession, the cowboy, and showing eastern audiences his version of real-life "out West."
